Saath Nibhana Saathiya is set within a Gujarati family background. It is based on thesaas-bahu (mother-in-law and daughter-in-law) relationship, retold through the point of view of G and her cousin, RA. It begins with K M's search for the perfect wife for her son, A. She wants a naive young woman for her son and chooses G over the sly and underhanded RA. A leaves his girlfriend for his mother's choice, not realising that the one his mother chose is illiterate. There are many problems in their relationship.

RA feels jealous of G when she gets more preference from the family on the other hand K scolds RA for her misbehavior.RA and UR plan many tricks to make G get a bad name from the family butKsaves her.A doesn’t love G as he was in love with AN.Though he tried to say to her before the marriage she could not know it as it was tricked by RA and UR.A doesn’t treat G as wife.WhenKKN is in love with Umang who doesnot love her really.He creates a false news that she is pregnant.On the other hand M family arranges for a marriage.When UR and RA comes to knows the truth,they secretly informs KN’s fiancé about this.WhenKcomes to know about the truth from KN she feels embrassed.She decide to marry KN to Umang.But he insults her.Finally KN is married to Dawal,RA’s cousin.G also leaves the M bhawan as she promise to A.But she returns soon as A’s Nani arrives.Later Ms comes to know about RA’s trick in marrying JG.They throw her out.RA is kidnapped &G gets hurt while saving RA.UR offers blood to G ,G request to bring back RA.M agrees.A starts liking GRA solves the misunderstanding with JG.UR and KN become greedy to earn money by cheating the people.Later they are caught.A rescues them.AN,A’s ex-lover returns with her wedding with N,A’s business client.But her marriage is called off due to the misunderstanding created by RA.She gets a mental depression.In ordered to help AN recover A makes fake calls pretending to be N.When AN finds it she thinks that A is still loving her& try to go close to him.When K notices this she sorts the help of RA & H to help G in her marital issues.On A’s birthday AN gains the credit for G’s effort. A tells G to get ready for his friend's house party.G urges A to leave early asKis not well. G is shattered when A confides that he had married the wrong girl to AN.RA makes her understand that instead of crying she should fight for her marriage.N’s parents agree to meet AN in the M house.AN humiliates them and asks them to leave.AN insults RA and RA vows to get rid of AN.A realizes his mistake and he tries to lighten things up with GRA tells G to ignore him.When AN goes to A's room and asks him to chat with her,G and RA chat with her instead.AN decides to teach a lesson to RA and G, whereas RA and G spoils AN's plan and put her to sleep.A gets annoyed by G’s behaviour towards him. G thanks RA for spoiling AN's plans.Arvind and his family come to see AN at M’s house. Arvind agrees to marry AN. AN talks to A.K decides to fix the wedding date but A objects to the wedding. AN tellsKthat A is still in love with her.K is outraged by AN's claim. She vows to prove to her that G is the best life partner to A and a deserving daughter-in-law of the M family. AN accepts her challenge.But G wins the challenge.In anger AN decides to kill G by creating a gas leakage but unfortunately A gets struck.G rescues A.K reveals AN's true intentions to the family. A declares that he is happy with his wife, G, and does not have any feelings for her.While leaving the M house, AN apologizes to the M family members.G remembers Holi day with A and worries if she is pregnant.G blurts out that she is pregnant to RA. RA tells the good news to the family members. A is shocked while everyone congratulates G and him.RA informs UR about G's pregnancy. UR tries to turn her against GA is shocked with G’s revelation and tries to recall what happened on Holi day.A apologizes to G for not remembering their union on Holi day. He confesses his feelings to her. In jealousy, RA blurts out to her that A had proposed to her because she is pregnant and not because he loves her.RA tells JG that she wants to have a baby.G thinks that he does not love her and cries.Baa tells G to have breakfast with the family. A leaves for office without eating.As A dislikes the kids, G gets upset.G feels that A is avoiding her and gets depressed.

A and G are giving bath to the puppy, A wanted to pull his sleeve up.. but he was unable to do  G helps him  pulls his sleeve up  they stare in between  G wrapsJ in a towel after the bath and tells the puppy that she will leave him outside  as A has to go to work G was going out while talking to the puppy and asks his name. A tells it’sJ  G smiles and walks out of the room A stares at her.G placesJ oin the basket outside in the lawn ( i guess) and tells him that M does not like him in the house, so he has to stay outside  and thinks that Aji cares so much forJ and smiles..and tells him that she will get something to eat  J  comes out of the basket and walks in to the house as the door was slightly ajar.In Ra J i room, both RA and JG simultaneously ask about each other’s cold and laugh . suddenly there hear a puppy voice in their room and they are shocked to seeJ sitting on the bed.They think how the cats and dogs are coming in and it is not even a pet dog as there is no belt around his neck and wonder how the door was opened so early in the morning ‘ just thenJ pees on the bed and RA is irritated . RA scolds the puppy .JG tells her not to scold the puppy as he is so small. RA says she will take it outside.,.JG goes to work.A realizes that the puppy did not eat anything G gets the food forJ,, but sees the basket is empty and is searching around calling forJ..she findsJ walking outside the house within the premises.and she feeds him.. A calls her and tells, sorry and requests her to feedJ.. G says she is feedingJ.. A thanks her and says that he will take J to the doctor in the evening and ends the call. In between the call, a middle aged woman, Meena, enters his cabin and listens to his conversation She looks for the puppy and asks A about the puppy  A says, he leftJ at home as he cannot handleJ and work together she aks were you talking about the puppy ?? A nods  she says that she thought he was talking about his baby  She further says that she would like to say something if he doesn’t mind A nods.. she says they have seen only him as a boss  never seen this side of him and says   a person becomes a dad only after the baby is born but A became the dad much before the baby is born  A is silent and gives her the file  she leaves.RA complains toUabout the puppy, in the leaving room she sees the puppy sitting on the couch and starts scolding him and asks him how come he is inside..and tells him to go out. RA  i think left the puppy out and closes the main door. G is taking water forJ. RA asks whom is the water for G tells aboutJ.. RA is shocked. and says is it your puppy and starts complaining about him G tells Aji got it RA is even more shocked G goes out to give water toJ.RA inside thinks that she left the puppy on the road.. G does not find him in the compound . and asks RA aboutJ. RA says how will i know  G callsJ  J RA tells her not to scream as kaaki might listen G meets the watchman and asks him aoutJ the watchman says he does not know  and says that he might have ran out of the gate  G is worried..RA saysUthat she left the puppy out of the gate and G gawar went to look out for her  Usays forget about G. and asks RA to come to a sadhu baba – so that he can give some herbs which will make babies for her..RA yells at her mom and disconnects the call when she hears koki calling out for G vahu, Koki asks RA about G. RA says she doesn’t know..as she just came here and koki is worried for G .G calls A and tells that J is missing and he is no where to be found A is shocked and worried  G is crying A tells her to take care of herself and he will be coming A calls watchman and scolds him for not taking care of the puppy and asks him to go and search.. the watchman says he will also go as G madam also went in search of the puppy A is worried, angry scolds the watchman and tells him to find G Madam first and stay with her until he comes G is on the road searching forJ calling his name and crying A calls G and asks if she foundJ and he hears G scream while crossing the road A is worried and tells her to go home and not be on the road the phone disconnects G is wandering and seesJ on the other side of the road and tries to cross the road she walks toJ who is sitting on the road  G bends and was about to lift him up when a car comes close to her. K is talking to R in kitchen.K ask R why she toldGto become strong and R explained the tie scene.Then K says myGbahu is innocent and naive..She doesn’t know to find the hidden agenda of the person standing in front of her and R nods..(yes, R you know this better..) She ask meethi to put all the necessary items so that she can start making the breakfast.K comes in front of kitchen and is waiting for R rasih comes and says,KK what?” and K reminds her plan and R nods and she went inside R ask Gwhat is she doing andGsays she is making breakfast for A as its his birthday R ask her about the gift andGsays after making breakfast, she will go to market to buy a shirt R says okey you do but don’t wish A.G says, R behn am gonna give A his green tea..if i didn’t wish him, he may get displeased..R says, no..he will not and you can surprise him by wishing him in evening instead…G nods and went to A’s room to give green tea A is talking over someone and is saying thank you..will inform if there is party G comes in and give him his green tea..A looks atGbutGwalks aways towards bed and A’s face shows disappointment someone rings the bell.G opens the door and there were some men outside.they said they are from some event mgmt company for decorations andGsays, no we haven’t called you..but AN came there and says, G.i told you na.surprise party for A..they are here to decorate .He stood up by glancing at Gand went to open the door and AN was there.AN was going to knock and she wished him happy birthday and gave a bouquet and kissed him on his cheek.as G’s eyes began to swam..
